Renovation and conversion of an apartment in an old building with a view of the Rhine.
The townhouse, built in 1899 and situated in a wonderful location in the St. Alban quarter, today houses four apartments with a view of the Rhine. After Blaser Architects had already been able to convert all the apartments on the upper floors in the last 20 years, the aging, rather small apartment on the ground floor has now also been converted as part of the renovation.
The apartment is accessed via the internal staircase. By moving the bathroom to the part of the apartment that is partly underground, the living room could be enlarged. The two small bedrooms were combined into one large room with a built-in dressing room. The existing windows were doubled up and the floors were covered with oak parquet, so that the original atmosphere of the house was preserved.
