MFH Lindenhofstrasse 16

Replacement construction of an apartment building in the protection zone.

Blaser Architects were commissioned to propose the renewal and use of a house built in 1912. The client favored after a comparison between renovation, renewal and new construction for a substitute building. The building was located in a preservatory area, that involved a intensive dialogue with the building commission of preservation.

For the project the discussion about the empty site as well as the existing dominant fireproof wall in the south, which limits the garden, were stamping. By folding of the south facade the frontality is covered up to the fireproof wall. The floor plan design with exempted sanitary core and the balcony conceived as a room expansion is the reason why the room feels enlarged.
