Competition project for the Lüdin Areal in Liestal in collaboration with Karpf Khalili Architects, New York.
Lüdin AG has sold its site in Liestal to Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund SIAT. The owners want to plan and realize an attractive residential development and service areas on the site based on the urban development guideline project. Blaser Architects, as Local Architects, were involved in this interesting and important development for Liestal together with the New York firm Karpf Khalili Architects and the landscape architecture firm CZ Studio Associates from Venice in an anonymous invited project competition.
The submitted project develops from its context in two ways. On the one hand, it emphasizes the urban conditions that underlie the structure of the old town, its location on a perceptible rising base and its division into spacious streets and small-scale passages. On the other hand, it refers to the nearby station area with its Belvedere-like forecourt, which creates a hard edge to the south. The basic attitude of the project was to create a suburban quarter and link between the new station area and the historic old town.
The jury chose the project design by Steib Gmür Geschwentner Kyburz Partner AG Architekten und Stadtplaner, Zurich.
