Conversion and expansion of a shop in the heart of Basel.
Blaser Architects were contracted to plan and supervise the renovations of a retail store on the Freie Strasse.
The concept included increasing the floor area and ceiling height as well as designing new surface materials for the floors, walls, and ceiling. Renovation work included moving the entryway to the Freie Strasse facade, removal of the stairway from the 2nd to 3rd floor, as well as enclosing the ceiling above the 2nd floor. The former storage room on the Schlüsselberg side was converted to retail area, increasing the store’s visibility and presence from this side.
