House Dr. Renz, Dornach SO | 2005 - 2006

The small dwelling from the fifties on the large property was renovated and extended with a library annex to the south. To the lower side of the house a new freestanding volume was added which is used as a music pavilion. The annex and the pavilion are united as an ensemble by their materialization in wood and cladding with large scaled plywood panels.

The pavilion is situated so that the view from the dwelling house can be joyed over to the valley. The space of the music pavilion opens in plan and section like a grand piano wing to the audience. The openings to the sky and the views to the garden let the user feel a certain intimacy.
